About Hergy’s Blog
More than 5 years ago now, I made a good friend who I didn’t know would change my career path forever. While playing World of Warcraft with my trusty, enemy-roasting Pyromage Eclaire, I got picked up in the early levels by a hunter called Karlik and his girlfriend Svecha. Little did I know at that time, that Karlik was in fact Teut Weidemann – and I never anticipated that my rantings and musings about the gaming industry would ever cause him to tell me one day, when I was about to finish my apprenticeship: “Send me your CV, I may have a job for you.”
Not much later, I had my entry into the gaming industry at Two Pi Team, as a Community Mananger to be. I was fortunate enough to learn the tricks of the trade on high profile projects like Age of Conan, and ultimately ended up as the European Community Lead for the Bioware MMO “STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™“. I got to visit the Bioware Austin office, know the physical horror and mental awesomeness that is the convention season, could work with some of the finest people I’ve ever met from all over Europe and the US and was finally able to make good use of my English skills I acquired on my own during years and years of what seemed like fruitless internet addiction and a love for movies in their original language.
Currently I’m unemployed and trying to get rid of a nasty health problem, while at the same time looking for a new job for the time when I’m all back to normal again. To not get out of touch with stuff, I created this blog, so I can write about some of my thoughts on the gaming industry, MMOs and community management in general.
Have fun reading!
